EFFECTIVE RURAL PHOTOJOURNALISM COACHING

AN FTMT & TMF PROJECT 2010/11

Flame Tree Media Trust has, for past one year, implemented the Effective Rural Photojournalism Coaching project, following a funding from Tanzania Media Fund (TMF). The project aimed at empowering regional photojournalists with the skills that they might use to visualize grass-root issues by powerful photographic images.

The photojournalists were coached on how to generate ideas, select approach and visualize them, as we all can witness in this exhibition today.

The objectives of the project are; to support quality journalism and to develop the skills of the Tanzanian photographers and writing journalists, so that their work can contribute to improved quality of the media content in the country.

The coaching covered the following regions: Lindi, Iringa, Mwanza, Shinyanga, Zanzibar and Kigoma in a period of one year beginning May 2010. The project has produced a year wall calendar of 2011, this photo exhibition and a book, which is still in the publishing process.

This exhibition is comprised of 54 posters with a total of 446 photographs. We believe it is the first big photo exhibition to have been produced and shown within the country. More importantly, it focuses on the grassroots’ issues in our most known rural communities.

Ati hazina hizi sio yetu!

Jisomee, ukihitaji article nzima ktk pdf nijuze, wasalam.

Taarifa mbali mbali toka magazetini zasemaje?/
Mwananchi:-
Vigogo wasababisha vurugu Loliondo.

The Citizen:-

Loliondo death toll reaches six.

Arusha. The rush to Loliondo for a miracle cure from a spiritual healer is slowly turning into a humanitarian crisis after four more people were reported to have died while queuing to reach the ‘doctor’.This brings to six the number of people reported so far to have lost lives while queuing to see the medicine man who claims to have divine powers to heal.
Commenting on the deaths yesterday, the Ngorongoro district commissioner, Mr Elias Wawa Lali, said most of those who died may have been rushed there directly from their hospital beds while in critical condition. However, he said one of the reported deaths was that of a child crushed by one of vehicles that have ferried hundreds of people to the area.
“The child was sleeping under a vehicle while the parents had gone to consult the miracle healer,” he told The Citizen on the phone from Samunge village. Mr Wawa Lali could not give the names of the deceased or where they had hailed from. One of them was, however, said to have come from Manyara Region.
“The problem we are having is that some of the patients taken there for treatment were moved out of hospital while in critical condition,” he said. The district administrator pleaded to those intending to take their relatives there to avoid picking critically ill people from hospital beds.On Monday night the DC confirmed two people had died while waiting to reach the healer whose miracle cure has led to an influx of patients to the remote village.

Something big and quiet unusual has been happening in Tanzania Loliondo Arusha. People are flocking the area from all over Tanzania including Government Officals, UN workers, citizens and almost 1000 cars heading there all becasue............

It is believed there is a cure out there to chronic diseases such as Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Cancer and even HIV/AIDS. This medication as claimed is being provided by an old man who is a retired Rev. of the KKKT Lutheran church in Loliondo by the name of Ambilikile Mwasapile (76).

According to sources (Mwananchi Jumapili newspaper) which visited him at his residence - He told them that he was instructed by God through his dreams in 1991 about this medication and what he should do to heal people with serious illnesses such as cancer and diabetes and asthma at first and later on in another dream that is when he was told by God that it could also heal people with HIV/AIDS. The dream kept occuring to him several times and last year on August 26 that was when he decided to start the healing work.

The treatment only costs Tshs 500, and its just one cup of the medication which should not be repeated once taken, and it comes from the tree shown below called(Mugariga) not sure what language that is!!

Before the medication is given out he prays for it and then boils it in clean water. He also claims that in order for the medication to work he has to be the only one who administers it to the patient and it starts working straight away!!! There have been reports from some people who have been there and used the medication, that claim to be healed!!!!!

Greatings from Apostle T. B Joshua

The cause of stealing, killing and destruction today is to keep wealth for ourselves, family and relations. But those relations, family and children we are keeping those things for - what becomes of them?
What can anyone achieve with stollen things? Greatness and success? No. Peace and comfort? No. This is what becomes of our children today because they are nurtured with stollen wealth.
When we inherit stolen wealth in a will, we would live under a stolen future - thereby mortgaging our future. Remember what comes from destruction goes to destruction.
Our leaders, how are you elected? was it stollen mandate or will of the people? Those who created yesterday's pain cannot control tomorrow's potential.
